The Club Alpino Italiano (C.A.I.) of Cortina d\u2019Ampezzo, in collaboration with the municipality of Cortina d\u2019Ampezzo, SeAm srl, ISTA spa, the Alpine Guides and the Mountain Rescue, and Tofana srl, organize on Saturday 24\/02\/2024 the fifth edition of the \u201cCortina Snow Run SHORT TRAIL<\/strong>\u201d, a semi auto-sufficient running race in the mountain along ski slopes.<\/p><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\tArt. 2 GENERAL INFORMATION<\/a><\/span>\n\t\t\t The SHORT TRAIL is a 9,5 km semi-autonomous running race with 555 m vertical gain, along prepared ski slopes. The race starts Saturday 24\/02\/2024 at 18:15, from the bell-tower in the centre of Cortina. The maximum time to complete the race is 2 hours.<\/p><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\tArt. 3 PARTICIPATION REQUIREMENTS<\/a><\/span>\n\t\t\t In order to participate in the race it is necessary to have some mountain experience, be physically fit and not suffer from vertigo, and to wear adequate clothing for temperatures that may vary from +6 C\u00b0 to -15 C\u00b0.<\/p><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\tArt. 4 REGISTRATION<\/a><\/span>\n\t\t\t a) Registration requirements<\/strong> b) Registration<\/strong> The following information is required at the time of egistration: c) Registration fee<\/strong> d) Method of payment<\/strong> e) Max number of participants<\/strong> Participants are not permitted to:<\/u><\/strong>: In the event that the race has to be cancelled or interrupted due to atmospheric conditions, or for any other reason beyond the control of the organizers, no refund will be given to the participants. The race will be postponed to next year.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\tArt. 5 MEDICAL CERTIFICATE<\/a><\/span>\n\t\t\t Foreign participants must download a certificate from here<\/a> and have it compiled, stamped and signed by a physician. If the medical certificate is not received by the stated date, the registration will be cancelled and no refund will be given. Distribution of race bibs and race packs will take place at the Olympic Ice Stadium (via It is obligatory to carry the following material during the race: RECOMMENDED MATERIAL: The maximum time allowed to reach the finish line is 2 hours (before 20:15 on Saturday 24\/02\/2024). A \u201cpick up\u201d service will follow the last runner, in order to help the athletes who withdraw and ensure that anyone with injuries is assisted. Participants are required to run in semi self-sufficiency and must carry at least one litre of liquids. Water bottles and camel bags can be refilled at the stations. Participants are advised to bring the necessary quantity of mineral salts to use during the race. There will be a refreshment point with liquids at the finish line. A hot meal will be available to participants at the Olympic Ice Stadium on arrival. It is necessary to show your race bib in order to receive the meal. Assistance from family or team members is only allowed at the refreshment points, in areas suitable for this purpose.<\/u><\/p>\n It is prohibited to have non-race participants accompany you during the race. Bags can be consigned between 14:30 and 17:30 Saturday 24\/02\/2024 at the designated deposit point at the Olympic Ice Stadium (via Bonacossa 1, Cortina d\u2019Ampezzo). Participants must be present at the start line by the bell-tower in Corso Italia by 17:45 on Saturday 24\/02\/2024. The race will start at 18:15. Changing rooms and bag deposit are available at the Olympic Ice Stadium (via Bonacossa 1, Cortina d\u2019Ampezzo. The organizers take no responsibility for items left in the bag deposit.<\/p><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\tArt. 13 RACE ROUTE<\/a><\/span>\n\t\t\t The Short Trail route has been classified with a red label: EE itinerary for expert excursionists. These itineraries require an ability to move across snow-covered terrain with some icy surfaces. Along the race course, members of the organizing committee and of the Alpine Rescue Team will be in constant contact with the race HQ. Ambulances with paramedics shall be stationed at various points along the route, as well as at the start and finish line, where there will also be a doctor and a PMA (advanced medical station). There will be check-points along the race route, where members of staff will monitor participants as they pass and they may also perform random checks of the obligatory material. Anybody refusing to have their obligatory material checked will be disqualified immediately.<\/p><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\tArt. 15 ENVIRONMENT<\/a><\/span>\n\t\t\t The race takes place in natural parks and in protected eco-systems. Participants must respect the environment by not throwing away rubbish or disturbing the wildlife. Anybody found dropping rubbish along the route shall be disqualified from the race and will incur penalties according to municipal regulations. In order to reduce the impact on the environment, there will be no plastic cups at the refreshment stations. Each participant must carry a cup or water container to use at the refreshment points. CAI Cortina complies with the Spirito Trail campaign \u201cI don\u2019t litter\u201d.<\/p><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\tArt. 16 WEATHER<\/a><\/span>\n\t\t\t In the event of adverse weather conditions (dense fog, snow storms or thunder-storms), the organizers reserve the right to make last-minute changes, even during the race, to the race route, in order to eliminate potential hazards or conditions that could jeopardize the safety of participants. The staff shall inform the participants of any changes. The organizers reserve the right to suspend or cancel the race in the event that weather conditions put athletes, staff or medical teams at risk.<\/p><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\tArt. 17 DISQUALIFICATION AND PENALTIES<\/a><\/span>\n\t\t\t The following infringements will lead to immediate disqualification with withdrawal of the race bib: There are no cash prizes. Non-monetary prizes shall be awarded to the first 5 men and the first 5 women. All participants who complete the race within the maximum time limit will receive a Finisher gadget.<\/p>\n The prize giving ceremony will take place Saturday 24 February at 21:00 at the Olympic Ice Stadium. Prizes will only be awarded at the prize-giving ceremony. \nParticipants must be at least 18 years of age and possess a medical certificate for sport, valid on 24 February 2024. Persons who have been disqualified from racing due to use of illegal substances will not be admitted.<\/p>\n

\n<\/p><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\tArt. 6 RACE BIB PICK UP AND RACE PACK<\/a><\/span>\n\t\t\t

\nIn order to pick up the race bib and race pack, participants must<\/strong>:
\n- show a valid ID
\n<\/p><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\tArt. 7 OBLIGATORY MATERIAL<\/a><\/span>\n\t\t\t
\n- removanle crampons (with excellent traction on ice and snow);
\n- walking poles obligatory;
\n- camel-bag or drinking container with at least \u00bd l of liquids;
\n- the race bib must be clearly visible throughout the race;
\n- survival blanket;
\n- whistle;
\n- a cell phone, switched on in silent mode;
\n- water-proof wind-breaker with hood;
\n- long sleeved top;
\n- long trousers;
\n- hat or buff;
\n- gloves;
\n- head-lamp;
\n- appropriate footwear for running on snow;
\nThe obligatory material can be worn or carried in a backpack.
\nThere will be an inspection of the obligatory material at the race bib pick-up. In the event of missing items, the race bib will not be consigned.<\/strong> There will be random checks of obligatory material along the race route.<\/p>\n
\nThe following items are recommended:
\n- helmet
\n- water-proof trousers
\n- energy bars or other types of solid food
\n- a small amount of emergency money for purchasing food in the refuges
\n- elastic bandage for wound dressing
\n<\/p><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\tArt. 8 MAXIMUM TIME LIMITS, DROP OUT<\/a><\/span>\n\t\t\t
\nIn the interest of the health of participants, medical staff at the check points are authorized to stop runners who are judged unfit to continue the race. If this happens, the participant must follow instructions given by the medical staff. Failure to do so, will lead to immediate disqualification.
\nFor logistical reasons, athletes who have dropped out may have to wait before being accompanied to the finish area. Any participant who drops out of the race at any point other than the established check points must make their own way back to Cortina and immediately inform the race organizers of their drop-out, by sending a text message to the number indicated on the bib number.
\n<\/p><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\tArt. 9 REFRESHMENT STATIONS <\/a><\/span>\n\t\t\t
\nThere will be 1 refreshment point along the route: Rifugio Col Druscie.
\nOnly participants carrying a visible race bib have access to the refreshment stations. Food and liquids from the refreshment stations must be consumed at the station; it is strictly forbidden for athletes to drink from the bottles provided by the refreshment stations. Waste must be thrown into the appropriate waste bins present.<\/p>\n
\n<\/p><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\tArt. 10 ASSISTANCE DURING THE RACE<\/a><\/span>\n\t\t\t
\n<\/p><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\tArt. 11 BAG DEPOSIT<\/a><\/span>\n\t\t\t
\nParticipants are strongly advised not to leave valuable items, as the organizers do not take responsibility for lost, damaged or stolen bags or contents.
\nBags left at the Olympic Ice Stadium must be picked up by 23:00 Saturday 24\/02\/2024, by presenting your race bib. The organizers will under no circumstance ship bags left behind by participants. Bags left behind will be destroyed, for reasons of hygiene.
\n<\/p><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\tArt. 12 RACE START<\/a><\/span>\n\t\t\t
\nThe run takes place on ski slopes and the following rules must be observed:
\n- after closing time of the lift facilities it is strictly forbidden to ascend or descend on the slopes with skis or on foot.
\n- when the lifts are open it is strictly forbidden to access the ski slopes on foot, which means that it is not possible to make a reconnaissance of the race route.<\/strong>
\nThe Short Trail takes the following route: blue piste (easy)
\nCortina (Corso Italia), Freccia nel Cielo cable car station - Ascent<\/strong> on piste Stries (blue) Colfiere, piste B (blue) Rifugio Col Druscie, descent<\/strong> side piste Pie Tofana (blue), descent<\/strong> piste Muro de ra Cioures (blue) Colfiere, piste Stries (blue) arrival at the Olympic Ice Stadium.
\nThe race has a total distance of approximately 9,5 km and 555 metres of vertical gain. In the event of adverse weather conditions or sub-standard conditions of one or more ski-slopes, an alternative route will be presented during the pre-race briefing at the start.
\nThe kilometers are not marked. Participants must adhere strictly to the signposted race route and avoid taking short cuts or cutting out sections of the route. Any departure from the official race route, apart from leading to disqualification, shall be at the sole responsibility of participants.
\n<\/p><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\tArt. 14 SAFETY AND CHECK POINTS<\/a><\/span>\n\t\t\t
\n- failure to pass a check-point
\n- taking shortcuts
\n- leaving rubbish along the race route
\n- failing to help a fellow participant in difficulty
\n- insulting or threatening the staff or volunteers
\n- using means of transport during the race
\n- refusal to undergo checks by medical staff along the route
\n- refusal to undergo checks of obligatory material
\n- not carrying removable crampons, walking poles, a headlamp, windbreaker, survival blanket, container with \u00bd l of liquids.
\n- not carrying a whistle, a long-sleeved top, long trousers, hat or buff, gloves, cup or water bottle, and not displaying the race bib.
\nThe penalty will be applied immediately at the spot where the infringement occurred.
\n<\/p><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\tArt. 18 PRIZES<\/a><\/span>\n\t\t\t
